Donald L. Hagan

Donald L. Hagan is the head of the Day Hagan Investment and Research Team, where he specializes in advanced asset management strategies designed to meet the unique needs of clients. With over thirty years of experience in investment management, Don has established himself as a leader in investment strategy and portfolio management.

Prior to founding Day Hagan in 2004, Don served as Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo Bank’s Private Client Services (PCS) division. Here, he was on the National Asset Allocation and Investment Policy Committees, where he was part of the team responsible for investment strategies for the national division. Don was also an integral member of Wells Fargo’s Investment Management Committee for its Signature Core equity portfolio.

From 1996 to 2001, Don held the position of Director of Research and Portfolio Manager for the Securities Corporation of Iowa (SCI). In this role, he managed research, asset allocation, and strategy for multiple investment approaches, including SCI Traditional Value Equity and Blue-Chip Bellwether Growth, prior to SCI’s acquisition by Wells Fargo in 2001.

Earlier in his career, from 1988 to 1996, Don was the Chief Sector Analyst and Editor at Ned Davis Research, Inc., where he provided research and recommendations to institutional clients on a global scale.

Don earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1994, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in the field of finance.

Beyond his professional achievements, Don engages in a variety of hobbies, including boating, playing guitar, kiteboarding, and writing. He has a passion for historical documentaries and actively supports several charitable organizations, including the Team Tony Cancer Foundation, the Riverview Kilties, Satchel’s Last Resort (an Animal Rehabilitation and Adoption Center), and the Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida.

As a devoted father to two sons, Ryan and Tyler, and engaged to the talented Lee-Ann Towle, Don is also a proud dog dad to “Mac,” his spirited Bernedoodle. He is deeply committed to his profession, valuing its tangible impact on clients’ lives, the intellectual challenges it presents, and the opportunities for continuous learning and enterprise.
